Blockhouse Portland Flower Photos

Portland, Oregon has a lot of talented florists and last month we were honored to be asked to take some photos by Annie of Floral Sunshine of a few bridal bouquets she made. It was the perfect mini styled shoot which had a dress from Brides for a Cause and was shot at Blockhouse at Pomarius Nursery in SW Portland, Oregon. We love working with Annie as she is super creative and really caring. She has been in the wedding industry for over 10 years and has a cute studio in SW Portland. The stunning venue is Blockhouse which is the perfect venue for your Elopement, micro wedding or medium sized wedding. The venue is nestle in the middle of a plant shop. (How cool!!)

We know that people love to give back and Brides for a Cause is the perfect way to give back and get an amazing wedding dress!  Brides for a Cause is more than a bridal store – it’s a bridal store to raise funds for charity! They are a nonprofit organization who collects donated wedding dresses and resells them to raise money for charity. This is a great way to give back to others while finding your dream wedding dress. This is also a very sustainable way to acquire a wedding dress.

If your already married and want to help out you can donate your wedding dress to Brides for a Cause where they will resell it to another bride and donate the cash amount a variety of women-focused charities (click here for current list). In the past 8 years they have collected over 15,000 wedding dresses and donated over a million dollars to charity! If you have always wanted to give back and work in a wedding dress shop they are always looking for volunteers. They also have locations in Tacoma & Seattle, Washington.

3 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Wedding Florist in Oregon

When planning your wedding, flowers play a huge role in setting the tone and style of your day. From the bridal bouquet to the ceremony arch and reception centerpieces, choosing the right florist is an important decision. If you’re looking for a wedding florist in Oregon or Portland, here are three tips to help you find the perfect match:

1. Find a Florist Who Matches Your Style

Every florist has their own artistic style, whether that’s romantic and garden-inspired, modern minimalism, or bold and colorful. Start by browsing portfolios on Instagram, websites, and wedding directories. Look for a Portland wedding florist whose past work reflects the vision you have for your wedding day. A florist’s design style should complement your personality and venue—whether you’re planning an elegant ballroom wedding or a rustic outdoor celebration.

2. Ask About Seasonal and Local Blooms

Oregon is known for its beautiful flowers, and the best florists will recommend designs that use seasonal and locally sourced blooms. This not only keeps your arrangements fresh and vibrant, but it also ties your wedding to the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Seasonal flowers, like spring peonies or autumn dahlias, help your bouquet and décor look their very best. Plus, using local flowers is often more sustainable and budget-friendly.

3. Choose a Florist Who Communicates Clearly

Your wedding florist should feel like a creative partner. The best Oregon wedding florists will take time to listen to your ideas, answer questions, and suggest creative touches that make your vision come alive. Look for someone who communicates clearly and makes you feel at ease throughout the planning process. Good collaboration ensures your floral designs reflect your unique love story.
