Engagement Session at Powell’s City of Books | Mary Grace & Zach

Mary Grace and Zach’s engagement session in Portland, Oregon was an absolute joy from start to finish. At Sightglass Photography, we love capturing the city’s unique vibe, and we couldn’t have asked for a more iconic starting point than Powell’s City of Books. This legendary bookstore, located in the heart of downtown Portland, provided the perfect backdrop for our couple’s literary-inspired shoot.

As soon as we arrived, Mary Grace and Zach’s excitement was contagious. They both share a passion for reading, which made Powell’s not just a photo location but also a meaningful place for them. From browsing shelves to sneaking sweet glances at each other between aisles, their session was filled with genuine smiles and laughter. Nothing compares to capturing real moments like these—the ones that truly define an engagement session and preserve the couple’s story.

After exploring Powell’s, we headed outside to the bustling streets of downtown Portland. The lively city sidewalks, beautiful architecture, and soft glow of the early evening lights set the scene for romantic portraits. We wandered near Pioneer Courthouse Square and explored hidden corners that showcased the city’s charming urban personality. Whether strolling in the warm sunlight or snuggling amid the Pearl District’s urban charm, Mary Grace and Zach kept things playful every step of the way.

Throughout the session, we made sure to highlight those special connections that make Portland so beloved—its independent culture, unique shops, and artistic spirit. Capturing Mary Grace and Zach’s playful energy was a testament to why we love what we do at Sightglass Photography.
